Week 4 — Problem Solved! 🎉
Queen spotted on Frame 2, new brood on new frames, colony thriving

Bees were super calm, queen spotted on Frame 2 laying beautifully on the new center frames. New brood visible, honey bound issue almost fully corrected. Destroyed practice queen cells. Light 1:1 sugar top-up. Next week, clean frame edges and add box 2!

Week 3 — Queen Spotted! 👑
First queen sighting! Frame rotation, supercedure cups were false alarm

QUEEN SPOTTED for the first time on Frame 4 center right! Rotated frames 2 and 6 to center to give her more laying space. Supercedure cups from last week were a false alarm, completely gone. Colony correction is working!

Discovered honey bound frames from checkerboarding combined with heavy feeding sugar water and stimulants. Stopped all feeding immediately. Possible supercedure cups spotted. New white wax on outer frames shows colony needs more space soon!

Day 17 — all 5 frames covered, solid capped brood, colony thriving

First full documented inspection 17 days after NUC transfer. All 5 original frames covered in bees with solid capped brood pattern. Queen clearly laying well from day one. New plastic foundation frames still being drawn out. Colony looks incredibly healthy!

5-frame NUC moved into the BeeHiveCastle — within 3 hours they found pollen!

Transfer day! 5-frame NUC moved into the hand-painted BeeHiveCastle Flow Hive in Hayward, CA. First 5 days not documented but within 3 hours of transfer the foragers had already found pollen! The BeeHiveCastle adventure begins! Read the full story on the About My Bees page.
