📝 Inspection notes

What a difference a week makes! This inspection was such a joy compared to the stressful May 19th correction. The bees were super calm the entire time, completely focused on their work, barely paying attention to us at all. That calm energy tells you everything about a healthy, queenright colony.

Queen spotted again on Frame 2, one of the frames I moved to the center last week. This is exactly what we hoped for, she immediately accepted the new central position and started laying there right away. You can clearly see fresh new brood on the frames that were moved to the center, proof that the rotation worked perfectly!

✅ Problem solved! The honey bound issue from overfeeding is almost completely corrected. The bees have been cleaning out the sugar water from the brood cells and the queen now has plenty of room to lay. Stopping the heavy feeding on May 19th was absolutely the right call.

Also destroyed the practice queen cells they had been building. Since the queen is healthy and actively laying these were definitely just boredom or practice cells, not a real swarm or supersedure attempt. Removed them to keep the colony focused on building up the brood nest.

Moved the 8th frame closer to the brood area to give the colony even more expansion room. Gave them a light 1:1 sugar water top-up on the top feeder, just enough to encourage some comb drawing without overdoing it like before!

📋 Next week plan: Clean up the burr comb and wax buildup on the frame edges, then hopefully add the second box! The colony is almost ready, just want to make sure they have the frames well covered first. So exciting! 🐝
👑 She is back! Can you spot the queen again?

👑 Found her again! She is circled on Frame 2, right where she should be — laying beautifully on the frames we moved to center last week. What a queen! 🍯
