What kind of bees are in the BeeHiveCastle?

Our colony is Italian honey bees, known for being gentle, productive, and great for beginners. They were installed as a 5-frame NUC on April 27, 2026 in Hayward, California.
What camera is used for the live stream?

We use a Reolink 4K E1 Outdoor Pro camera mounted at the hive entrance. It streams 24/7 via YouTube Live and is embedded directly on the homepage. You can find the exact model on our Equipment page!
What are the best times to watch the live cam?

Peak activity is 7-10am when foragers head out for the day, and again 3-6pm when they return loaded with pollen. Sunny warm days (above 65°F) are always the most exciting to watch! Check the weather widget on the homepage for current conditions.
Can I buy honey from the BeeHiveCastle?

Not yet! We are only 4 weeks into our first season. The Flow Hive super goes on later this summer and if all goes well we hope to have our first harvest in late summer 2026. Stay tuned and watch it happen live on the cam! 🍯
