📝 Inspection notes

Week 16 and this is the inspection we have been waiting for! The bees were absolutely great today, calm, busy and clearly thriving in the August heat. All 8 bottom brood box frames inspected and the colony continues to look healthy with lots of capped brood, fresh eggs and larvae everywhere.

Found the queen on Frame 6 today along with a beautiful close-up photo! She looks healthy and well fed and is clearly laying actively throughout the bottom box. Always a relief and a joy to spot Her Majesty during an inspection!

🍯🎉 THE MOMENT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! Looking through the Flow Hive window we can clearly see the girls are FINALLY storing nectar in the Flow super cells! After weeks of patient waiting, wax painting, frame scratching and supplemental feeding, the bees have started filling those beautiful Flow frames with real nectar! This is an incredible milestone for the BeeHiveCastle first-year colony! Even though we decided not to harvest this year, seeing nectar in the super is confirmation that the colony is strong, healthy and working exactly as a Flow Hive should! 🐝🍯
✅ Best inspection in weeks! Queen found on Frame 6 with close-up photo, loads of capped brood and healthy brood pattern throughout, bees were calm and great, and the Flow super now has nectar being stored! The BeeHiveCastle colony is absolutely thriving at Day 98!
⚠️ Practice queen cups still present but completely empty as always. No swarm pressure, this is a happy healthy colony in full summer mode. Left them in place.
📋 Mid-August plan — oxalic acid vapor mite treatment coming soon! Treating now gives the colony healthy mite-free winter bees. Will document the full treatment process in the journal. Also monitoring the Flow super nectar progress each week!
