Week 15 at the BeeHiveCastle and what a great inspection! The bees were completely calm throughout and the colony looks incredibly healthy. All 8 bottom brood box frames inspected and everything looks fantastic heading into August.
The highlight of today, found the queen right on the very first frame! She was spotted immediately when we pulled Frame 1 and got a beautiful close-up photo of Her Majesty. The white marking from June is still visible and she looks healthy, well fed and active. It is always reassuring to lay eyes on her and confirm everything is in order.
Checked the Flow super frames, the bees are still working on them but nothing is capped yet. No nectar stored in the cells. As decided last week the priority this season is colony health and winter preparation rather than a honey harvest. The Flow super will come off before winter and the bees will have all their natural stores plus the supplemental feeding to get them through.
