📝 Inspection notes

Week 11 and the BeeHiveCastle is absolutely thriving! The bees were completely calm and non-aggressive throughout the entire inspection, a beautiful sign of a healthy, queenright colony heading into peak summer. All 8 bottom box frames were inspected and everything looks fantastic.

The bottom brood box is packed with loads of capped brood on every frame. The queen is clearly laying at full capacity which means the colony population is at its peak for summer. Fresh eggs and healthy larvae visible throughout, confirming the queen is actively working.

Speaking of the queen, we found her on Frame 2 of the bottom brood box! She is safely below the queen excluder exactly where she should be, laying beautifully and looking healthy. The queen excluder is doing its job perfectly.

✅ The nectar flow is definitely on! Foragers are bringing in natural nectar from summer flowers and the colony is in full production mode. This is exactly what we were waiting for after switching to the Flow super last week. The timing could not be better!

Took a peek through the Flow Hive window, the bees are actively working on the Flow super frames, sealing the gaps in the plastic cells with beeswax. This is normal and important behavior — the bees need to fully seal and coat the Flow frames before they start storing nectar in them. They are preparing the frames and it is only a matter of time before nectar starts filling those cells!

🍯 No nectar stored in the Flow frames yet but the bees are actively sealing the cell gaps with wax — this is the final preparation step before honey storage begins. Next inspection on July 6th we will pull out each Flow super frame to check for nectar. Honey season is coming! 🐝
⚠️ Practice queen cups still present but completely empty as always. The colony is not preparing to swarm — just a healthy thriving colony keeping its options open as usual. No action needed.
📋 Next inspection July 6th — full inspection of bottom box and will pull each Flow super frame individually to check for nectar deposits. Also checking queen health and brood pattern.
