First full documented inspection, 17 days after the NUC transfer on April 27th. Unfortunately the first 5 days weren't documented but this is where the journal really begins!
Opening the hive was exciting, all 5 original NUC frames are completely covered in bees. The solid capped brood pattern across the center frames tells us the queen has been laying beautifully since day one. Very healthy signs for a colony only 17 days old.
The new plastic foundation frames are still being drawn out, totally normal at this stage. The bees are working from the center outward which is exactly right. Propolis already coating the older frames shows the colony is settling in and making the BeeHiveCastle their home.
Didn't spot the queen this visit but all signs point to her being active and healthy. Eggs confirmed present, meaning she was laying within the last 3 days. Colony mood was calm throughout the entire inspection. 🐝
